Time to get your party space started?

Start feeling inspired for your new party space.
At first, it might seem like we are getting a little ahead of ourselves, but hear us out! We believe that these long winter months are the perfect time to change up and revamp your party space, in glorious anticipation of what’s to come. Now is the time, to plan your outdoor space and have it ready for summer dining, or for creating a gorgeous cocktail bar or beautiful dining room, in your home. We have been longing to reconnect with our family and friends for what seems like an age, so think of this as your project for welcoming people back into your home, when the time is right. And that right time is coming and boy won’t we be ready.
Where to begin? There are so many home design magazines and blogs, it’s hard to know which style you adore and which you are being influenced by. When it comes to redecorating it’s important to feel inspired. So start your interiors search, create a mood board and start pinning your favourite looks. Don’t be afraid to go bold, if you are creating a party space you should want it to be centre stage.
When reimagining your dining room space, your furniture is going to be a big feature here. You don’t have to throw our what you already have or buy brand new. Why not repaint or refinish when you already have? Upcycling is a brilliant way to restyle your existing furniture. If you have a dining table which just isn’t working for you, consider painting it, staining it or limewashing the top. Consider adding beautiful cushions to your dining chairs or try your hand at reupholstering the seats. Check out some of our favourite upcycler’s for ideas; Aileen Hogan from Shabby.ie, Joanne Mooney from A Proud Home and Joanne Condon.
In terms of colour in your dining space, you can go as big and as bold as you like. If bright or dark colours feel like too much for you in your home, then why not try mixing up more subtle colours but add some texture with a beautiful wall covering. Adding colour to your home doesn’t have to be daunting. By sticking with one main wall you can add a touch of personality and energy while also staying comfortable with your favourite style. Think about using Pantone Deep Teal by Fleetwood Paints as a bright accent.
Don’t forget that this ‘wall of interest’ could also be your ceiling. We often think a room has four walls to it. However, the 5th wall – the ceiling – is often overlooked when designing and painting a room. Bringing the ceiling into your design can add a huge amount to the overall look, if done right. Feeling brave? Then why not choose Muga by Paint and Paper Library for a fabulous contrast to the neutral walls.
When it comes to creating a fabulous outdoor space, there are more ways than one to create a party masterpiece. Most if not all, outdoor furniture can be painted and a good primer is your friend here. Hopefully, our outdoor spaces will be enjoyed long into those summer nights so don’t forget your lighting. Fairy lights, night lights, perhaps a chiminea or a fire pit. All of which, create ambience and warmth outdoors, which let’s face it we may need to rely on this summer. A simple touch is to ensure you have comfy cushions and cosy blankets at the ready. So let’s get this party, if not started, planned for now. The good times are coming.
